What is the best time to visit Kashmir?

Kashmir is beautiful in every season, and the best time to visit depends on the experience you are looking for.

March to May – Tulips and Spring: Spring is a wonderful time to visit Kashmir, especially the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar, recognised as Asia’s largest tulip garden. In 2026, it featured around 1.8 million tulips. The garden is a seasonal attraction, usually open for a limited period around March and April; exact dates depend on flowering conditions and official announcements.
June to July – Honeymoon and Adventure: These months are popular for honeymoon holidays, sightseeing, green valleys and outdoor adventures. Enjoy Kashmir’s scenic landscapes and plan excursions according to weather and local conditions.
September to October – Autumn Colours: Experience Kashmir’s remarkable autumn scenery, with golden-yellow leaves, deep red Chinar trees and the purple hues of saffron fields around Pampore during the flowering season.
December to February – Snow and Winter Adventures: Winter attracts visitors who want to experience snow, skiing and other seasonal activities. Gulmarg’s Apharwat Mountain offers spectacular snow-covered views, and the Gulmarg Gondola cable car provides access to higher mountain areas, subject to operating conditions and weather. At Trips Fever, we can help you choose the right season and plan a Kashmir itinerary around your interests, travel dates and preferences.

  • The ideal duration for a Kashmir trip depends on the kind of holiday you want, the destinations you wish to explore and the experiences you want to enjoy.
  • 3 Nights / 4 Days – Luxury Honeymoon: A short luxury honeymoon at The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa can be a wonderful choice for couples seeking a premium mountain escape.
  • 4 Nights / 5 Days – Major Destinations: Explore Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam with a well-planned itinerary.
  • 5 Nights / 6 Days – Add Doodhpathri: Enjoy the major destinations covered in the 5-day plan, with an additional day for Doodhpathri.
  • 6 Nights / 7 Days or More – Explore Kashmir in Greater Depth: Allow more time for Srinagar’s local sightseeing, Pari Mahal, Mughal Gardens, Aharbal and other scenic places. Kokernag and Verinag may require an additional day, depending on your route and pace.
  • 8 Days or More – Trekking Experiences: The duration depends on the trek, route, altitude and difficulty. Some treks need around eight days or longer.
  • 15 Days – Skiing and Learning: If you want to learn skiing rather than simply enjoy a snow activity, plan a longer stay. Around 15 days may be suitable for a learning-focused trip, depending on the course and snow conditions.
  • At Trips Fever, we customise Kashmir itineraries around your interests, preferred hotels, travel dates and pace of travel. Tell us what kind of holiday you have in mind, and we’ll help you plan it.

Our Kashmir tour packages are designed to make your holiday comfortable, convenient and memorable. Standard inclusions generally cover:

  • Accommodation: Comfortable hotel stays according to your selected package and hotel category.

  • Daily Breakfast & Dinner: Both breakfast and dinner are included in our package, as specified in your quotation.

  • Complimentary Shikara Ride: Enjoy a complimentary 1-hour Shikara ride on Dal Lake as part of the package.

  • Transfers & Sightseeing: Transportation for airport transfers and planned sightseeing as outlined in your itinerary.

  • Customised Travel Plans: Choose destinations and experiences according to your interests, trip duration and budget.

What about lunch? Lunch can be added on request. Since you may be exploring different destinations during the afternoon, it can be difficult to decide in advance where you will be at lunchtime. Keeping lunch flexible allows you to enjoy your sightseeing without being tied to a fixed meal location.

Gondola tickets, adventure activities, entry fees and other special experiences may be charged separately unless specifically included in your quotation.

Yes, Kashmir is welcoming tourists and hosting major public events, but travellers should always check the latest local conditions before departure.

Kashmir continues to attract visitors who come to experience its beautiful landscapes, culture, hospitality and unique seasonal attractions.

Recent public events in Srinagar demonstrate the region’s ongoing social and cultural activity. Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at SKICC on 2 October 2026, while the Kashmir Marathon–Run for Unity held on 1 October brought together thousands of participants.

These events are encouraging signs of public participation and activity in the region. However, conditions can vary by location and may change, so visitors should follow official travel advisories and local authorities’ instructions.

At Trips Fever, we help travellers plan their Kashmir itineraries and recommend confirming road conditions, sightseeing access and any travel advisories relevant to their travel dates.

Yes! UPI payments are widely used across Kashmir. Around 90% of shops and people in many commonly visited areas accept UPI payments, although acceptance can vary by location and individual merchant.

1. UPI Payments: Google Pay and other UPI apps are convenient for paying at participating shops, restaurants and businesses. Set up your preferred app before travelling and make sure it is working properly.

2. Carry Cash for Remote Areas: Cash is important at remote destinations such as Zero Point and higher areas of the Gulmarg Gondola route, where network connectivity or digital payment facilities may be limited.

3. Credit Cards and Activities: Do not assume every sightseeing or adventure activity counter accepts credit cards. Payment options vary by provider, so confirm in advance and keep cash as a backup.

4. Mobile Network Tips: If you are travelling to Kashmir from another Indian state, check whether your SIM will work before departure. Prepaid SIM cards issued outside Jammu and Kashmir generally do not work in the Kashmir Valley, so a postpaid connection is usually the safer choice. Jio and Airtel postpaid connections are commonly used, but coverage varies by destination and other operators may also work.

5. Weak Network Areas: Even with a working SIM, remote destinations and high-altitude attractions may have weak or no signal. Since UPI transactions generally require an internet connection, payments may fail in these areas.

Our recommendation: Set up Google Pay or another UPI app before your journey, carry sufficient cash for remote destinations and activities, and ensure you have a reliable mobile connection.

At Trips Fever, we want you to enjoy your Kashmir holiday with fewer surprises, from accommodation and transfers to practical travel planning.

What are the top things to buy in Kashmir?

Kashmir is famous for its luxurious saffron, fine Pashmina shawls, exquisite carpets, and traditional handicrafts. Here are some of the best things to buy during your visit:

  • Kashmir Saffron: Known for its rich aroma, colour, and quality, Kashmir Saffron holds a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. Pampore, in Pulwama district, is one of its best-known cultivation centres. Look for authentic saffron from reputable sellers.

  • Pashmina Shawls: Discover the softness and elegance of traditional Kashmiri Pashmina, renowned for its fine craftsmanship. Buy from trusted sellers and ask for appropriate authenticity documentation.

  • Kashmiri Carpets: Kashmir’s hand-knotted silk and wool carpets are celebrated for their intricate patterns and painstaking craftsmanship. In 2024, artisans completed Asia’s largest handmade silk carpet in the Valley, measuring approximately 72 × 40 feet. A new giant carpet project at Kunzer has also drawn attention to Kashmir’s weaving heritage.

  • Dry Fruits: Shop for Kashmiri walnuts, almonds, and other locally available dry fruits, ideal for gifting or enjoying at home.

  • Papier-Mâché Handicrafts: Explore beautifully decorated traditional boxes, ornaments, vases, and other handcrafted souvenirs.

  • Walnut Wood Carvings: Discover intricately carved wooden products that reflect Kashmir’s distinctive artistic traditions.

  • Copperware: Traditional Kashmiri copper items make memorable souvenirs and decorative pieces.

  • Kashmiri Kahwa: Bring home this aromatic traditional tea, often prepared with saffron, spices, and almonds.

Shopping tip: Compare prices, purchase from reputable sellers, and request a proper bill. For premium products such as saffron, Pashmina, and carpets, check authenticity and provenance before buying.
